MIIT 410th Batch Unveils Key NEV Registrations

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released its 410th batch of road motor vehicle enterprise and product announcements on August 7, featuring several high-profile new-energy vehicles making their first official appearances.

The listings include models from BYD, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Great Wall Motors, Dongfeng Nissan, and smart — signaling intensifying competition ahead of the traditional autumn sales season.

Fang Cheng Bao Tai 9: BYD's Largest Range-Extender SUV

Equation Leopard (Fang Cheng Bao), BYD's off-road sub-brand, revealed its largest PHEV SUV yet. The "Tai 9" (Titanium 9) measures 5,270/1,999/1,850(1,880)mm in length, width, height with a wheelbase of 3,130mm and seats six.

It carries a 66.48kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery from Fujian FD Battery/BYD, delivering a WLTC pure-electric range of 310km. The PHEV system pairs a 1.5L engine (115kW) with dual electric motors (200kW each), achieving a top speed of 220km/h. Curb weight is listed at 2,865–2,965kg.

The vehicle's boxy design and size place it in direct competition with large premium off-roaders, with media likening it to a Land Rover Range Rover competitor within BYD's lineup.

WEY Gaoshan 8/9: Mid-Size MPVs Get Redesign

Great Wall Motors' WEY brand announced two new variants of its Gaoshan MPV line. The larger Gaoshan 9 measures 5,410/1,960/1,890mm with a 3,275mm wheelbase, six seats, and a redesigned front grille. It uses a 2.0L range-extender engine (175kW) from Great Wall with a ternary lithium battery from SVOLT Energy Technology. A smaller Gaoshan 8 was also listed.

BMW iX3 Long-Wheelbase Returns With Updated Details

BMW's iX3 long-wheelbase version, based on the Neue Klasse platform, reappeared in the MIIT filings with semi-flush door handles replacing the previous design. The EV measures 4,885/1,895/1,634mm with a 3,005mm wheelbase and five seats.

Dual-motor power output is 116kW front and 235kW rear, with a top speed of 200km/h. CATL supplies the ternary lithium battery cells, assembled by Brilliance BMW.

Dongfeng Nissan NX7: Compact PHEV With LiDAR

Dongfeng Nissan declared a new PHEV compact SUV, the NX7, measuring 4,785/1,920(1,932)/1,660(1,1,665)mm with a 2,815mm wheelbase and five seats. It features a roof-mounted LiDAR unit.

The PHEV system pairs a 1.5L engine (73kW) with a single 170kW electric motor. A 40.95kWh LFP battery from FAW CATL provides a WLTC pure-electric range of 220–225km.

Mercedes VLE: First Pure-Electric MPV for China

Mercedes-Benz's VLE is its first pure-electric MPV registered for the Chinese market. At 5,310/2,000/1,922mm with a 3,340mm wheelbase and seven seats, it matches the size of a full-size van with a 2+2+3 seating layout.

Available in single- or dual-motor configurations — up to 200kW front plus 105kW rear — with a top speed of 170km/h. CATL supplies the ternary lithium battery cells assembled by Fuding Times New Energy. Mercedes adopted a closed front-grille design similar to the EQ GLC SUV.

smart #2: Two-Seater City Runabout

A rare two-seater EV from the smart brand was also registered. Measuring just 2,751(2,764)/1,669/1,555mm with a 1,875mm wheelbase and weighing only 1,130kg, the pure-electric model delivers 60kW from a single motor with a top speed of 140km/h, using a CATL-sourced LFP battery.

Other Notable Listings

The 410th MIIT batch also includes the updated BYD Seal 07 and the extended-range version of the AITO M8 featuring a 75kWh battery option. Together, the filings point to a crowded and competitive second half of 2026 in China's NEV market.
