Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026/9/30

CarsEVs ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you visit our website.

Information We Collect

  • Analytics Data: We use Google Analytics 4, configured through Google Consent Mode v2, to understand how visitors interact with our site. No analytics cookies are set by default — they are only created if you accept them, and if you decline we receive only aggregated, cookie-less measurement. See Cookies & Data Collection below.
  • Cookies: We use cookies only with your consent (analytics and advertising), plus the technically necessary cookies required to serve the site. See Cookies & Data Collection below for the full details.
  • Newsletter: If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address with your explicit consent.
  • Comments/Forms: Any information you voluntarily submit through contact forms or comments.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve our content and services
  • To send newsletters (only with your consent)
  • To respond to your inquiries
  • To comply with legal obligations

Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR Art. 6)

Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we process personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): Analytics and advertising cookies, and any newsletter subscription, are processed only with your freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent. You can withdraw consent at any time via Cookie Settings in the footer of any page (or Customize on the consent banner).
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): Operating and securing the website, protecting against abuse and fraud, and understanding aggregate readership to improve our coverage. The technically necessary cookies described in the Privacy Policy (set by our hosting and CDN provider) are processed on this basis and do not require consent. We balance these interests against your rights and freedoms.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): Where we are required to retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law.
  • Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): Where you engage our services and performance of a contract requires processing.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

  • Service providers who help us operate our website (hosting, analytics)
  • Legal authorities when required by law

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data. We never sell your personal information.

If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK (GDPR / UK GDPR):

  • Right of access (Art. 15)
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16)
  • Right to erasure — the "right to be forgotten" (Art. 17)
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18)
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20)
  • Right to object to processing, including processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21)
  • Right not to be subject to automated decision-making (Art. 22)
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal
  • Right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority (for example, the UK Information Commissioner's Office or the authority in your country)

If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA):

  • Right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
  • Right to request deletion of your personal information
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information
  • Right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — we do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted by law
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@carsevs.com.

Cookies & Data Collection

This site uses cookies and similar technologies to measure how our news content is read and — only with your consent — to personalize and measure advertising. This section describes exactly what we use, how your choices are stored, and how you can change them at any time.

Types of cookies we use

Type What it does Requires consent?
Necessary Technically required to deliver the site, such as security and session cookies set by our hosting and CDN providers (e.g. Cloudflare). These cannot be switched off. No
Analytics Google Analytics 4 cookies (_ga, _ga_<id>) that tell us which articles are read, from where, and on which devices — so we can improve our coverage. Yes
Advertising Google AdSense cookies used to show and measure ads and ad-click attribution across the web. Ads are served only after you accept advertising cookies via Google Consent Mode v2, and no advertising cookies are ever set without your permission. Yes

Google Consent Mode v2

Before any Google tag runs, we declare a default consent state of denied for all storage. In practice this means:

  • No analytics or advertising cookies are created until you make a choice.
  • When you choose on the consent banner, we update your consent state through Google Consent Mode v2, which tells Google's services which storage they may use.
  • If you decline analytics, Google Analytics runs in a cookie-less mode: it sends basic, aggregated measurement without cookies or identifiers, and Google uses modeling to estimate the resulting gaps in the data.
  • The first page view is held briefly (up to about 500 ms) so it is recorded under the consent state you choose — never before you decide.
  • When advertising storage is denied, ad-click identifiers are redacted while conversion measurement is preserved in an aggregated, privacy-preserving form.

How your choice is stored (carsevs-consent)

  • Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key carsevs-consent as a small JSON value (for example {"analytics": true, "ads": false}).
  • It stays on your own device — we never see or store your choice on our servers.
  • On your next visit we read it before any tracking script loads, so your preference is applied immediately and you are not asked again.
  • If you clear your browser's site data, the choice is removed and the consent banner will appear again on your next visit.

Changing your choice at any time

You are not locked into your first decision. To review or change your preferences:

  1. Click Cookie Settings in the footer of any page (or the Customize button on the consent banner).
  2. In the Privacy settings dialog, toggle Analytics cookies and Advertising cookies as you wish — the switches always show your current choice.
  3. Click Save choices. Your new selection is applied to Google services immediately through Consent Mode v2 and saved to your device.

Third-party vendors we work with

To run CarsEVs we rely on a small set of named third-party processors. Each one is listed below with what it does, the data it processes, and a link to its privacy policy so you can verify how it handles your data. We never sell your personal information to data brokers, and we do not share your email address with any third party for their own marketing.

VendorWhat it doesData processedPrivacy policy
Cloudflare, Inc. Hosts our website and serves cached pages from a global CDN. Sets the strictly-necessary cookies that keep the site working and protect it from abuse. IP address, request metadata, security signals cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
Google LLC — Analytics 4 Counts anonymous page views and reading behaviour so we can improve our coverage. Only runs after you accept analytics cookies, and runs cookie-less when you decline. Aggregated reading metrics, IP-derived country/city, device class policies.google.com/privacy
Google LLC — AdSense Serves contextual advertising on some pages. Only loads after you accept advertising cookies through our consent banner. AdSense is Google's ad-serving product; the publisher (CarsEVs) does not see what ads are shown before you see them. Ad-impression events, click attribution, contextual ad topics policies.google.com/technologies/ads
Resend, Inc. Delivers transactional email (newsletter double-opt-in, contact-form messages) on our behalf. We share your email and the message body only at the moment we send. Email address, message content resend.com/legal/privacy-policy

Some of these vendors are based in the United States. Where personal data is transferred from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on the European Commission's adequacy decisions or on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses plus supplementary safeguards (encryption in transit, data-minimisation in our requests).

Advertising, ad cookies, and Google AdSense

Some pages on CarsEVs display advertising served by Google AdSense, a Google service that uses cookies and similar technologies to deliver, measure, and improve advertising. We use AdSense in non-personalised mode by default: ads are matched to the content of the page (context) rather than to a profile built from your activity across other sites. You can opt in to personalised ads at any time via Cookie Settings.

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (google.com/settings/ads). You may also opt out of certain third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

For users in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland: when you have not granted advertising consent, AdSense is blocked from loading and no advertising cookies are set on your device. Where personal data is processed for advertising measurement, the legal basis is your consent under GDPR Art. 6(1)(a), which you can withdraw at any time.
