NIO Sets Single-Day Battery-Swap Record With 183,469 Services on National Day

China's NIO set a new single-day record on Oct. 1 when it completed 183,469 battery swaps across its charging and swapping network, the company announced.

The figure covers vehicles under all three of NIO's brands — NIO, Onvo, and Firefly — and translates to roughly one swap every 0.47 seconds over the course of the day.

Highway stations lead the surge

As expected during the National Day travel rush, high-way stations outpaced urban ones. The top performer was the G15 Shenhai Expressway Rizhao Service Area station (Shenyang direction) in Shandong province, which handled 211 swaps in a single day.

Two more stations rounded out the top three: the G1523 Yongguan Expressway Toubao Service Area station near Fuzhou with 200 swaps, and the G50 Huyu Expressway Nanling Service Area station near Wuhu with 193 swaps.

In urban areas, the Ulanqab Yisheng International and Qinhuangdao New Century Park stations tied at 146 swaps each, while the Chengde Qingchui Peak National Forest Park station logged 142.

Network at a glance

NIO now operates 9,515 charging and battery-swap stations nationwide, of which 4,160 are dedicated swap stations. Cumulative swap services have exceeded 126 million, and total charging and swapping transactions have surpassed 220 million.

Along highways, 1,073 swap stations form a "nine vertical, eleven horizontal, sixteen city-cluster" grid covering more than 550 cities. According to the company, a driver can reach every provincial-level region in mainland China using only battery swaps along the way.

With the domestic new-energy vehicle parc continuing to grow, peak-holiday energy-refill demand remains high. NIO says its expanding network provides a more stable option for long-distance travelers compared with conventional charging.
