HIMA launches Luxeed RX, refreshed R7, and reveals Stelato V8 MPV

Yu Chengdong, head of Huawei's intelligent automotive solution business, unveiled three new models at the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) event on Sept. 28, signaling a strategic refocus after adjustments to the AITO (Wenjie) partnership with Seres.

The headline launch was the Luxeed RX, priced from approx. $36,083 to approx. $54,028 (China market 259,800–389,800 RMB). Yu called it "the best-driving car in the HIMA lineup" after it clocked a 1:43.210 lap at Zhejiang Race Circuit, earning the title of fastest production SUV by a Chinese brand. The RX is also the only HIMA model in the approx. $36,000–54,000 bracket built on an L3 autonomous-driving architecture.

Key specifications include a 51,040 N·m/deg body torsional stiffness, a front virtual-strut double-wishbone aluminum suspension with dual-chamber air springs and twin-valve continuous damper control, a rear five-link setup, and a 800V silicon-carbide power platform. The 100 kWh ternary lithium pack delivers up to 852 km CLTC range; 30–80% fast charge takes 15 minutes. Performance figures: 251 km/h top speed, 0–100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, 100–0 km/h braking in 32.4 meters. Six trim levels span single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD variants.

Smart features centre on an L3-ready sensor suite: a global-first 896-line dual-optical-path image-grade LiDAR, three high-precision solid-state LiDARs, and 38 sensors total, plus eight full-chain redundancy systems (sensing, computing, power, braking). Active safety uses the CAS 5.0 anti-collision system. Interior highlights include a 26-inch HUD, dual zero-gravity front seats, a smart temperature-controlled fridge, and an ALPS health cockpit with MOFs formaldehyde-adsorbing material.

Luxeed R7 receives major refresh

The Luxeed R7 also got a full overhaul, with pricing from approx. $33,306 to approx. $43,861 (239,800–319,800 RMB). Yu said HIMA invested approx. $7 million (500 million RMB) across eight upgrade areas. The refreshed R7 gains dual 17.2-inch 3.4K butterfly screens, a 26-inch HUD, upgraded zero-gravity seats with enhanced massage (27% more force, four additional lumbar points), and a new singing-bowl relaxation mode using 16 low-frequency resonance actuators and HUAWEI SOUND.

Range extends to 855 km CLTC on the 800V high-voltage pure-EV architecture. Intelligent driving is handled by HUAWEI ADS 5 with the same 896-line dual-optical LiDAR and 36 sensors.

Stelato V8 MPV introduced

Stelato (Xiangjie) V8, the alliance's first pure-EV MPV, opened for pre-orders at approx. $45,806 (329,800 RMB) with a 6,000 RMB pre-order benefit. The 5,335-mm-long, 3,250-mm-wheelbase MPV features an aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.226 at 120 km/h and a 730-mm wide electric sliding door.

It is the first HIMA model to offer both pure-EV and range-extender powertrains as standard. The BEV version comes with a 120 kWh battery and up to 830 km CLTC range; the EREV version offers 56 kWh or 75.4 kWh packs for a combined range of up to 1,465 km. An 800V platform, dual-chamber air suspension, twin-valve dampers, and ±12° rear-wheel steering (5.09 m turning radius) are standard. Four zero-gravity seats, a 21.4-inch overhead cloud-clear screen, smart privacy glass, and an L3 architecture with 38 sensors round out the package.

Strategic shift on AITO

Yu Chengdong opened the event by addressing the recent adjustment to the AITO partnership with Seres, confirming that AITO remains the first HIMA brand and that Seres will lead its operations. "All owner rights and interests remain unaffected," he said. HIMA will now focus resources on four brands: Luxeed, Stelato, Maextro, and Shangjie.

Chery Automobile chairman Yin Tongyue said the Luxeed lineup is approaching 200,000 cumulative deliveries and described the brand's ambition: "Guo Rui's team is building China's Porsche."

HIMA reported cumulative deliveries exceeding 1.55 million units through Sept. 16, 2026, with over 12.2 billion km of ADAS driving recorded and more than 5 million potential collisions proactively avoided.
