Dongfeng Motor and Huawei's joint venture brand Yijing conducted a live media test of its X9 model in Chongqing on September 11, putting the Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 intelligent driving assist system through its paces on real public roads with multiple simultaneous livestreams and no post-production editing.

The 61-kilometer route covered some of Chongqing's most demanding terrain — multi-level立体 interchanges, narrow old-city streets, tunnel clusters, and winding mountain roads — providing a rigorous real-world stress test for the vehicle's ADAS capabilities.

Hardware and Sensor Suite

The Yijing X9 carries a total of 32 sensors, headlined by a quad-LiDAR setup featuring an 896-line dual optical path imaging LiDAR and high-precision solid-state LiDAR units. This multi-sensor fusion architecture enables the system to detect obstacles as small as 14 centimeters in height at distances up to 120 meters.

The vehicle also features a 75-inch enhanced AR-HUD that projects navigation and road warnings directly into the driver's line of sight, while the chassis integrates Huawei's XMC six-domain fused digital platform with an all-aluminum underpinnings, dual-chamber air suspension, and EDC continuously variable damping dampers.

Safety and Driving Features

Equipped with CAS 5.0 all-dimensional collision avoidance, the system covers forward AEB from 1–150 km/h, rear AEB from 1–60 km/h, and lateral collision avoidance from 10–130 km/h. The ADS 5 software supports urban roaming cruise assist, campus roaming cruise assist, highway assistance, and autonomous parking.

During the Chongqing test, the vehicle successfully handled elevated highway lane changes, traffic light recognition at intersections, car-following maneuvers, and unassisted navigation on select city streets without pre-loaded map data. It also navigated continuous mountain curves, mixed pedestrian-vehicle traffic in old neighborhoods, and frequent non-motorized vehicle encroachments.

The system's WEWA 2.0 architecture leverages massive real-world road-test data for algorithm training, with cloud-based simulation upgraded to a multi-agent博弈 mode for improved handling of unexpected road situations.

Market Positioning

The Yijing X9 is a large six-seat SUV jointly defined and developed by Dongfeng and Huawei Qiankun, with coordinated engineering spanning underlying architecture, the three-electric system, chassis, and quality control for integrated hardware-software tuning. Pre-orders opened on August 18 and accumulated 21,235 orders within 24 hours. The vehicle is scheduled to officially launch in late September.
