Maestro V680 Targets Business-Plus-Family MPV Segment With Huawei Tech

The Maestro V680 is entering the 700,000 RMB (approx. $97,222) MPV segment with a dual-business-and-family positioning, aiming to differentiate itself from competitors through intelligent driving technology and flexible interior layouts. The vehicle is produced under the Maestro (尊界) brand, a joint venture between BAIC Group and Huawei.

Body dimensions reach 5,320mm × 2,006mm × 1,850mm with a 3,290mm wheelbase, providing the foundation for what the company calls a "four-plus-seat" configuration. The second-row seats slide rearward to create over 1.4 meters of legroom, while the third row folds electrically, allowing the cabin to shift between a business-oriented four-seat mode and a family-friendly layout when needed. The second-row backrest reclines up to 150°, and the zero-gravity seats feature a 20-layer construction with 85mm foam cushioning and a soft floating layer.

The competitive landscape in this price bracket includes the Li Auto MEGA, which targets families with its seven-seat arrangement and pure electric platform. The Maestro V680 takes a different approach, emphasizing rear-seat comfort and privacy for executive use while retaining flexibility for household trips.

On the technology front, the V680 is equipped with Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 autonomous driving system. The vehicle carries 40 sensors in total, including a front-facing dual-redundancy LiDAR matrix and an omnidirectional six-LiDAR array, feeding into a system designed around redundancy across perception, computing, communication, braking, steering, power supply and positioning.

The cockpit features an integrated triple-screen setup: a 12.3-inch 2K digital instrument cluster, two 17.2-inch displays for the center console and front passenger, and a 21.4-inch 3K rear entertainment screen. A flip-down second-row armrest screen and rear privacy glass are also included.

Safety structure relies on what BAIC calls the Xuanwu architecture, with 11 transverse and 11 longitudinal high-strength beams. High-strength steel and aluminum-magnesium alloy account for over 88.2% of the body materials. Active safety covers forward and lateral collision avoidance, with the vehicle designed to raise its active suspension and reposition seats before impact.

Industry analysts note that the 700,000 RMB MPV market is shifting from simple size and powertrain comparisons toward integrated experience competition. Where the Li Auto MEGA emphasizes multi-passenger family use, the Maestro V680 targets buyers who need a single vehicle to serve both executive transport and family travel — a segment that has grown as affluent Chinese consumers seek versatility in their flagship cars.
