JAC Motor's premium Maestro brand announced on October 8 that it will upgrade the brake pedal bracket on its V800 following reports of cracking, and confirmed that all three current Maestro models — the V800, V680, and S800 — are eligible for the free replacement.

The fix addresses a component issue, not the entire brake pedal assembly. According to a third-party report issued by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), the V800 brake pedal meets the Chinese industry standard QC/T 788-2018, passing tests at 1,500 newtons of longitudinal force with displacement under 5 mm, and showed no cracks or damage even when stressed to 3,000 newtons.

Maestro store staff told CarsEVs that the upgrade will take just a few hours per vehicle. For owners who have already taken delivery, registration opens now with bracket replacements expected to begin in November. For vehicles not yet shipped, production will follow the updated specification from the line. Units already en route will be inspected upon arrival, and owners can choose to wait for the part or take delivery first and return later for the upgrade.

There is no regional priority for the recall; replacements will be scheduled in the order owners register their vehicle identification numbers.

Delivery figures paint a picture of Maestro's rapid but modest rollout. The S800 launched on May 30, 2025, with deliveries beginning June 26. From August 2025 through September 2026, cumulative S800 deliveries reached approximately 19,725 units. The V800 and V680 launched together on August 5, 2025, with deliveries starting August 31. The V800 moved 2,273 units in August and September combined, while the V680 sold 184 units over the same period. Total Maestro deliveries across all three models exceeded 22,000 units by September 2026.

On the capital markets side, JAC Motor shares rose 5.9 percent to 23.35 yuan per share on October 13 after the CATARC test results were published, valuing the company at roughly 52.6 billion yuan. By close on October 14, the stock had retreated 8.62 percent to 21.20 yuan, erasing approximately 5.07 billion yuan — roughly $704 million — in market value.

Maestro has not yet disclosed specifics on the new bracket's material or supplier. Industry sources suggest the replacement part may use a stronger steel or aluminum alloy, but no final specification has been confirmed.
