Leapmotor starts B10 production in Spain

Leapmotor has begun manufacturing its B10 compact SUV at Stellantis' Zaragoza plant in Spain, marking a key milestone in the company's European localization strategy.

The move follows a partnership between the Chinese automaker and the French–Italian group, which has provided Leapmotor with access to existing assembly capacity in southern Europe.

The B10 is Leapmotor's first model built locally for the European market, joining other Chinese brands that have shifted from importing fully assembled vehicles to assembling regional models through joint-venture or contract-production arrangements.

Stellantis has previously collaborated with Chinese EV makers on manufacturing and distribution, leveraging its established factories to lower logistics costs and comply with evolving EU rules on local production and import tariffs.

A05 makes European debut

Alongside the production launch, Leapmotor revealed the A05 sedan for the first time in Europe, expanding its lineup beyond the B10 SUV.

The A05 is positioned as a mid-size plug-in hybrid or pure-electric family car, depending on the powertrain specified for regional markets.

Leapmotor entered Europe in 2023 with the C10 and T03 models, initially selling through parallel-import channels before setting up local subsidiaries and service networks across key markets including France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia.

Building the B10 in Spain reduces shipping lead times and avoids certain tariff exposures that apply to completely built-up (CBU) imports from China.

Industry analysts note that Chinese EV makers are increasingly exploring European contract manufacturing to accelerate market penetration while navigating trade-policy uncertainties.

Leapmotor declined to disclose production volumes or local content percentages for the Zaragoza-built B10.
