Zeekr 8X Claims Dual Crown in 300k–500k Hybrid SUV Segment
Three months after launch, Zeekr 8X has topped sales and reputation rankings in China's premium hybrid-SUV market, with over 19,600 units sold and 65% of buyers coming from traditional luxury brands.
Zeekr 8X Captures Sales and Reputation Crown
Zeekr announced on August 12 that its plug-in hybrid flagship SUV, the Zeekr 8X, recorded 5,699 units sold in July 2026, bringing three-month cumulative deliveries to 19,646 since its market launch.
The model has secured two top positions simultaneously: it leads cumulative sales in the 300,000–500,000 RMB (approx. $41,667–$69,444) hybrid-SUV segment, and ranks first in a major Chinese automotive media reputation survey with a 4.6 out of 5.0 score across all vehicle categories above 300,000 RMB.
The Zeekr 8X commands a notably premium buyer profile. Its average transaction price sits at approx. $50,000 (360,000 RMB). More than 48 percent of purchasers come from households earning over 600,000 RMB annually, while over 52 percent are business owners or senior corporate managers. Among trade-in and upgrader customers, more than 65 percent previously owned traditional luxury fuel vehicles — a share that continues to rise.
Architecture and Product Iteration
Built on Geely's Haohan-S (SEA-S) super hybrid architecture, the 8X targets balance across performance, smart driving, comfort and safety. Zeekr is expanding the model's appeal with a rolling rollout of features, including the H9 advanced driver-assistance system and the optional Yao Ye (Night Edition) styling package.
Market Context
Competition in China's premium hybrid-SUV segment has intensified, with domestic brands steadily increasing their presence above the 300,000 RMB price point. Zeekr's three-month results signal that high-end electrified hybrids are drawing away buyers who previously committed to established European and Japanese luxury brands — a shift that could reshape the segment's competitive dynamics going forward.
