Faw Hongqi has confirmed that the updated HS5 mid-size SUV will officially launch on August 21 during the 29th Chengdu International Auto Show, running from August 21 to 30.
Exterior and Interior Updates
The refreshed HS5 retains its large vertical-slat grille but swaps the previous split-headlight design for a unified lens LED unit. New LED daytime-running lights frame the grille on both sides, while a one-piece lower bumper trim helps lower the visual center of gravity. The rear styling has also been simplified, with revised taillights and bumper.
Inside, the HS5 gets Hongqi's Lingxi cockpit, built around the automotive-grade 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip — the first of its kind in a vehicle. The cabin features a large floating center touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, a HUD head-up display, and an electronic gear selector.
Features and Intelligence
Available equipment includes heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, wireless phone charging, and a Dynaudio sound system. The vehicle also debuts the Sinan intelligent driving-assist system, extending smart features from the infotainment screen into active driving scenarios.
Powertrain
The gasoline version carries over a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 252 horsepower (185 kW) and 380 N·m of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants are available.
A plug-in hybrid version based on Hongqi's Honghu HMP hybrid platform is planned for later release. It will use a 1.5-liter dedicated hybrid engine with an estimated pure-electric range of 170 km and support 4C ultra-fast charging.
