Geely has announced a recall of approximately 93,000 vehicles in China over a potential defect in the LiDAR unit's power chip, which could impair or disable advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) on affected models.

The recall spans the Geely Galaxy M9 as well as five Lynk & Co models: the 900, 10 EM-P, 07 and 08. According to the company, a process variation at a supplier may have damaged the LiDAR's power chip during manufacturing, raising the risk that the sensor could fail and compromise ADAS functions that rely on it.

LiDAR — light detection and ranging — is a key component in many Chinese EVs' smart-driving stacks, providing 3D environmental mapping for features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and city navigation-on-autopilot. A faulty LiDAR could therefore degrade or fully disable those systems, increasing reliance on the driver in conditions where automation would normally assist.

Details on the remediation — whether the fix involves chip replacement, sensor swap or software recalibration — and the precise production windows for affected vehicles have not yet been published by Geely.
