Luxeed R7 updated SUV drops price, offers up to 855 km range

Huawei-backed Luxeed has launched an updated version of its R7 SUV in China, offering a longer driving range and a lower starting price compared with the outgoing model.

The updated R7 starts at approx. $33,306 (239,800 RMB), a reduction of about 20,000 RMB (approx. $2,778) from the previous model's opening price. The top-spec variant delivers a maximum range of 855 km under the CLTC test cycle.

Pricing and positioning

Luxeed is a joint venture between Huawei and Chery Automobile. The brand positions the R7 as a mid-to-large electric SUV aimed at tech-savvy buyers who prioritize intelligent driving features and long-range capability. The price cut signals an effort to strengthen the R7's competitiveness in China's increasingly crowded EV SUV segment.

Range and battery

The 855 km range represents a notable improvement over the previous iteration and places the R7 among the longer-range electric SUVs available in China. This range figure is based on the CLTC standard, which tends to produce more optimistic estimates than the WLTP or EPA cycles used in Europe and North America respectively.
