BYD's off-road-oriented Fang Cheng Bao brand is expanding beyond SUVs and trucks with its first sedan lineup, the Formula S and Formula S GT, set to launch on September 16.
The two variants carry pre-sales pricing from 230,000 RMB to 280,000 RMB, translating to approximately $31,944 to $38,889. Fang Cheng Bao, which launched in 2023 under BYD's premium brand umbrella, has previously offered off-road-focused models like the Bao 5 SUV and the Bao 9 large SUV, making the sedan move a notable diversification for the sub-brand.
No further technical specifications — such as powertrain details, range, or dimensions — were disclosed in the source material ahead of the September 16 reveal event.
Fang Cheng Bao's move into the sedan segment comes as competition intensifies in China's mid-size premium EV market, where traditional automakers and new-energy startups alike are vying for share. The brand will now face rivals in the same price bracket from BYD's own Denza sub-brand and other Chinese NEV makers.
