Volkswagen's Anhui joint venture has rolled out its 100,000th electric vehicle, marking a significant production milestone achieved in just over two years of manufacturing operations.

The 100,000th vehicle off the line was an ID. UNYX 08, the first model jointly developed by Volkswagen and XPENG. The collaboration between the German automaker and the Chinese EV startup has become a cornerstone of VW's electrification strategy in China, one of the world's largest and most competitive new-energy vehicle markets.

VW Anhui, established as a 49-51 joint venture between Volkswagen Group and SAIC Motor, began production at its facility in Hefei in late 2023. The rapid pace to 100,000 units underscores the strong demand for the ID. UNYX lineup in the Chinese market.

The ID. UNYX 08 combines Volkswagen's traditional vehicle engineering expertise with XPENG's intelligent driving and smart cockpit technologies, reflecting the growing trend of Chinese EV makers licensing their software and ADAS capabilities to legacy automakers seeking to close the technology gap.
