SAIC Volkswagen has announced its full lineup for the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, centering on the ID. ERA family with four models sharing the stage for the first time.

The highlight is the ID. ERA 5S, the brand's first sedan in the ID. ERA range, which has opened for pre-orders at a limited-time price of approx. $16,083–$20,264 (China market 115,900–145,900 RMB). Measuring 4,836 mm long, 1,880 mm wide and 1,505 mm tall with a 2,766 mm wheelbase, it is marketed as Volkswagen's first sedan globally to feature city navigation-on-autopilot capability.

The 5S is powered by a 1.5-liter plug-in hybrid system. Its engine produces a net peak of 80 kW, while the drive motor delivers 130 kW. CLTC-rated pure-electric range exceeds 160 km, with a combined range of 2,000 km and a depleted-battery fuel consumption of 2.82 L/100 km.

Also making its debut at the show are the ID. ERA 8X and ID. ERA 5X, alongside the already-on-sale ID. ERA 9X flagship. The ID. ERA 8X is a large five-seat range-extended SUV measuring 5,020 × 1,997 × 1,750 mm with a 2,970 mm wheelbase, equipped with a range-extender system based on Volkswagen's EA211 engine.

The ID. ERA 5X slots in as a compact pure-electric SUV built on Volkswagen's CMP platform and CEA electronic architecture — a first for a mass-produced model using that combination. Its dimensions are 4,560 × 1,896 × 1,630 mm with a 2,815 mm wheelbase. The 5X carries LiDAR hardware and supports end-to-end urban NOA driver-assist across full driving scenarios.

SAIC Volkswagen will also display several other models at Chengdu, including the all-new LimGuru L GTS race edition, the Passat ePro, the Tiguan L ePro and the Teramont Pro.

The brand's ID. ERA series aims to span sedan, SUV and flagship segments under a single electrified sub-brand, signaling SAIC Volkswagen's push to compete in China's increasingly crowded new-energy-vehicle market.
