Li Auto confirmed that its next-generation Mega MPV will launch on September 2, bringing a reimagined interior and updated intelligent driving hardware to the brand's flagship electric minivan.

According to Li Auto CEO Li Xiang, the upcoming Mega will feature an interior design that sets it apart from every other model in Li Auto's current portfolio. The company has not yet disclosed specific details about the cabin redesign or the exact nature of the smart-driving hardware upgrades.

Interior and Tech Upgrades

The next-gen Mega represents Li Auto's effort to keep its premium MPV competitive in an increasingly crowded electric vehicle market. The current Mega, launched in 2024, was positioned as a high-end all-electric people-mover with a focus on family comfort and advanced driver-assistance features. The refreshed version is expected to build on that foundation with meaningful differentiators.

While details remain under wraps, the emphasis on a distinct cabin layout and enhanced smart-driving components suggests Li Auto is targeting buyers who want something more differentiated from its existing L-series SUVs and the original Mega platform.

Market Context

Li Auto has been pressing hard in the premium EV segment, with its L-series plug-in hybrid SUVs driving strong sales in China. The Mega MPV, however, has faced tougher competition from rivals like the Denza D9, Zeekr 009, and NIO's EL7-based offerings. A refreshed model with a more distinctive interior could help reinvigorate interest ahead of the busy autumn sales period.

Li Auto has not yet announced pricing for the next-generation Mega. The current model carries an approximate starting price of $56,944 (410,000 RMB) in China.
