Deepal S05 launched from approx. $16,097, with LiDAR and 3nm chip

Changan's Deepal brand has launched the all-new S05 compact electric SUV in China, with prices ranging from 115,900 to 144,900 RMB (approx. $16,097–$20,125). The launch took place on August 6, 2026, offering five trim levels spanning two range options: 520km and 620km CLTC.

Intelligent driving and cockpit

The S05 is equipped with one LiDAR sensor and 27 high-sensitivity sensors in total, forming a 360-degree perception system. It uses two Horizon J6M chips running a one-stage end-to-end algorithm, which Deepal describes as enabling more human-like driving decisions rather than rigid machine execution. Over 90 navigation-assist features cover 99% of daily driving scenarios, including city, highway and parking assistance, as well as a map-free roaming mode for campus and rural roads.

The cockpit is powered by a 3nm automotive-grade chip, the first of its kind in this segment. Other interior highlights include a 15.6-inch 2.5K sunflower screen, an 18-speaker surround sound system, and augmented-reality lane-level navigation combining four map layers.

Performance and charging

The S05 offers two pure-electric versions with CLTC ranges of 520km and 620km. Zero to 100 km/h takes 6.28 seconds. The powertrain uses Deepal's "Force Super-Integration" electric drive system, with an average efficiency of 93.1% (CLTC) and a total weight of just 75kg.

All models come standard with 3C supercharging, charging from 30% to 80% SOC in under 15 minutes. A wide-temperature micro-core high-frequency pulse heating technology reduces charging time by 55% at -30°C and improves range by 21km in cold conditions.

Suspension and safety

The S05 features FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) shock absorbers combined with HRS (Hydraulic Rear Stop) suspension, which Deepal says adjust damping in real time based on road conditions — firming up during cornering and softening over bumps. The battery uses CATL cells with a "bell container" structure, rated for 600,000 km of degradation-free use.

Space and design

Measuring 4,620 x 1,900 x 1,600mm with a 2,880mm wheelbase, the S05 offers a 492L trunk, a 159L front trunk, and a 1.9m² panoramic glass roof. Interior colors include Nebula Purple, Thermal Wave Orange and Rock Grey, with 99% premium leather coverage across the cabin.

Deepal reports the S05 has already been exported to 73 countries, with over 250,000 global deliveries and monthly overseas sales exceeding 6,000 units.
