Freelander (神行者) is a new electric vehicle brand revived by Chery and Jaguar Land Rover (CJLR) joint venture. Launched in 2026, Freelander combines British design heritage with Chinese electric vehicle technology, targeting the premium SUV market globally.

History

Freelander was revived in 2026 as a joint venture brand between Chery Automobile and Jaguar Land Rover (CJLR). The brand revives the legendary Freelander nameplate, originally a compact SUV produced by Land Rover from 1998 to 2014. The new Freelander brand will produce electric SUVs, with the Freelander 8 as its debut model. JLR leads the design, while Chery handles manufacturing and electric vehicle technology. The brand plans to launch first in China and the Middle East in 2026.
