Li Auto held its Power Day electric technology launch in Beijing on October 20, 2026, unveiling the "Lianshan" electric technology system. The system integrates Lianshan batteries, Lianshan electric drives, ultra-fast charging equipment, and a self-built charging network, all coordinated through a cloud-based quality warning platform.

The centerpiece is the Lianshan 5C battery, which Li Auto says can add 500 km of range in just 10 minutes of charging. The new Li Auto L8, equipped with a self-developed 5C ternary lithium battery, achieves a CLTC pure-electric range of 430 km. The 2026 Li Auto i6, launching October 28, offers up to 780 km CLTC range — an 8% improvement over the 2025 model. For phosphate iron lithium (LFP) vehicles, Li Auto says algorithm optimization and thermal recovery can add roughly 30 km of winter range, with a further 10 km boost planned via OTA in early 2027.

Safety is a major focus. The Lianshan battery includes six protection stages covering impact, water ingress, leakage, thermal propagation, manufacturing control, and cloud monitoring. Li Auto reports the battery withstood a 500-joule impact test without fire or explosion, achieved IPX8 and IPX9K ratings, and maintained 24 hours without ignition after a single cell failure at 50°C. Production data for each cell is traceable for 20 years, and the cloud system can issue risk warnings up to 72 hours in advance.

Battery Warranty and Longevity Targets

Li Auto simultaneously announced the Lianshan Battery Protection Plan, offering two key clauses: if a self-developed battery spontaneously combusts and the vehicle is declared a total loss, Li Auto will provide a replacement vehicle of the same specification; if a collision or underbody scrape causes a self-developed battery fire leading to total loss, Li Auto will cover the gap between insurance payouts and the vehicle's actual value.

For 2026 models with the 5C ultra-fast charging battery, the design target is eight years or 160,000 km with over 75% health retention.

Electric Drive and Charging Network

Li Auto has been developing its next-generation electric drive platform since 2021. It has completed a self-developed five-in-one drive system and a silicon carbide (SiC) high-voltage three-in-one drive system. The Li Auto i8 and its powertrain were featured on the cover of the January 2026 issue of German journal MTZ, marking the first time a Chinese automaker's drive system appeared on the publication's cover.

The new auxiliary motor uses self-developed CAR119 cast-aluminum rotor material, adding over 15 km of urban range and over 8 km of highway range to the L9 and L8. A distributed terminal-free direct connection technology contributes an additional 30 km of range while saving 24 mm of vehicle height.

Li Auto's self-developed power chips have accumulated four million installations in one year with zero recorded failures. Each drive unit undergoes 93 end-of-line tests, with records kept for 15 years. Data from over 230,000 delivered vehicles — exceeding 100 million operating hours — is used for predictive fault detection.

Li Auto's self-built ultra-fast charging network now includes 4,200 stations and 23,000 charging piles, structured around a "12 vertical, 13 horizontal" framework covering 25 national highway corridors. By end of 2026, the company plans one station every 100 km on national highways. Plug-in takes as little as 13 seconds on compatible 5C vehicles, and over 95% of highway stations are located inside service areas with free parking during charging.

By the 2027 Spring Festival, the number of 5C charging guns will rise to 8,300, and a "5C priority parking" feature will launch in Q4 2026. Li Auto is also developing an automated ultra-fast charging solution that eliminates the need for manual plug-in.
